The gymtorium at Langston at Gay and Holbrook Streets had a stage for
assemblies, plays and talent shows and a floor that staged dances, proms,
physical education classes and athletic activities. The facility was equipped with basketball goals and locker rooms.
Football and basketball games were played at Peter’s Park (below) in Almagro.
THE NEW LANGSTON HIGH SCHOOL
Constructed in 1958-59 on Cleveland Street at a cost of a reported $100,000, the new and modern Langston included 14 classrooms, four
laboratories, a library, a separate auditorium and health and physical education building and gymnasium.
